INNOVATION FUND: MOBILE TOOLKIT FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE (MTCR)

The Mobile Toolkit for Climate Resilience is a one year Innovation Fund supported initiative implemented in six primary schools of the Addis Ababa City Administration. The project is designed to strengthen climate change awareness and build adaptive capacity within school communities through accessible and practical tools that support learning, planning, and action on climate related challenges.
The toolkit focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills of teachers, students, and school leaders on climate resilience, with a strong emphasis on schools in vulnerable contexts. It integrates user friendly mobile based resources that support the effective delivery of climate change education, helping school actors better understand climate risks and apply appropriate mitigation and adaptation measures in their daily school activities.
Through its implementation, the project has strengthened the integration of climate change education into classroom teaching, improving both awareness and instructional practice. Teachers and students have benefited from more engaging and practical learning approaches that promote understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Beyond classroom learning, the initiative has supported practical school based actions such as greening activities, school gardening, and improved waste management systems. These efforts have contributed to cleaner, greener, and more environmentally responsible school environments while encouraging long term sustainability practices within the school community.
