The project aimed to strengthen women’s rights organizations and advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls across Ethiopia. Implemented in Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, and the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR), the initiative supported local, regional, and national women’s organizations through capacity building, responsive funding, and collective advocacy.
Through training, mentorship, grants, and networking opportunities, the project enhanced the organizational sustainability and effectiveness of women’s organizations, enabling them to deliver gender-transformative programs and influence policy and social change. The project also promoted collaboration among women’s networks and strengthened their ability to advocate for the rights and empowerment of women and girls.
Over its implementation period, the project reached more than 100 women’s organizations, strengthened leadership and advocacy skills, and contributed to creating a more vibrant and sustainable women’s rights movement in Ethiopia.
