DANIDA URBAN REFUGEES AND DROUGHR RESPONSE PROJECT
The DANIDA Urban Refugees Project and drought response project aims to improve the safety, resilience, and self-reliance of vulnerable urban refugees and host community youth in Addis Ababa. Implemented in selected sub-cities, the project focuses on strengthening protection systems, promoting social cohesion, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through a holistic and inclusive approach.
The project supports young people particularly women and girls through access to protection services, sexual and reproductive health education, skills development, and green economy initiatives such as recycling, composting, and urban agriculture. It also enhances community participation in governance and decision-making processes while strengthening collaboration between civil society actors and local authorities.
Through integrated interventions, the project contributes to safer communities, improved well-being, and long-term economic independence for both refugees and host populations.
